Thanks to a strategic collaboration between GEM elettronica and one of the world leaders in the production of fully equipped trains for railways survey and intervention works on track infrastructures, GEM elettronica has developed and supplied with success a new Inertial Navigation System (INS) especially developed for the railway sector.
The project has been carried out by GEM elettronica’s R&D lab dedicated to Inertial Navigation Systems and Fiber Optic Technology, the Photonics Research & Applied Navigation Sciences (PRANS) laboratory.
PRANS team was enthusiastic to get involved into such a challenging program aimed at the development of an Inertial Navigation System (INS) to be integrated with the other on-board sensors.
Thanks to the wide experience of GEM elettronica’s researchers and the technical background of our engineers, the project was achieved with success and in 2020 GEM elettronica has supplied a fully complete Fiber Optic Gyrocompass System which has also been certified for railways applications.
